Looking Ahead
Wow, time sure does fly. As the new year is just around the corner I thought I would write a little to tell you what we have in store for 2009.
This coming year we should obtain charitable status. I am still predicting any day now…I will let you know as soon as we have received word from the government.
However, that does not stop us from pushing forward and helping those in need.
The yearly Predictions Call was such a success. We had just over 30 people involved. Stu interviewed half of those who participated the week before Christmas and we plan to interview the other half of speakers the second week in January. At the present time we have raised just over $16, 000. Thank you to everyone that has helped with the call. The fundraiser is still not over, as it will continue on in January.
We also finished the year with our Write to Give Campaign. This was also met with positive feedback. I sold over 126 books to student’s families and friends. It made a great Christmas present. Due to demand and interest I have decided to publish four more before our trip to Kenya in March. That means another 300 students will be involved in publishing their own book while helping others around the world.
I have also begun to plan a Write to Give Day in May – where I will bring all the students together that have participated in the campaign – to celebrate their writing success as well as show them pictures of Africa and where their donations have gone. I am really looking forward to it. I am planning on inviting some special guests to help make the day more meaningful.
Our programs are continuing to do well. Teachers and students are being supported everyday, thanks to kind donations made by people around the world.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday and all the best for 2009!
