School Opening Details

Well, I am happy to say that Stu returned safely late Monday night from his short visit to Kenya.

He had an amazing time in Kenya with David Frey (A Donor and a Member of Our Board of Directors).  Together, they experienced the Opening Ceremonies of the school.  The day started at about 10AM, on Friday March 25th.

That morning over 1800 families and children began to enter the community.  Everybody was singing and dancing.  Some families walked over 6KM to get to the school.

There were also several radio stations and local tv stations there to capture the moment.  The day was also well attended by Kenyan Government Officials.

Many students danced at the opening from surrounding schools and many Opening Rituals took place like planting some new trees and breaking the ground for the Administration Block, that will be built later this month.

It was so exciting to see all of Stu’s video and pictures.  I have selected a few (it was hard to pick) and a short video clip of some of the local students dancing.

I hope you like them.

A big THANK YOU goes out to all of our donors, friends and family who have continually supported our fundraising initiatives.  Without your generosity, this wouldn’t have been possible.

Also, a very special thank you to Amy and Lucas Crossley for donating some embroidered World Teacher Aid Golf Shirts.  Stu wore them while on site.

Now over 600 students will be attending this school and receiving an education :)   Thank you.

Check out the video and pictures below.  Enjoy.

David had a great time getting to know the kids!
