Summer 2009 Newsletter

Summer  Newsletter 2009

Dear Friends,

This is the first of what will be regular newsletters sent out by World Teacher Aid.  The newsletter will be sent out four times a year, winter, spring, summer and fall.

Status – FINALLY

As many of you know, we finally received full charitable status in May.  It has taken a long time to accomplish, but it is well worth the wait.  The last month or so, I have been busy learning a lot about running a charity.   I have purchased software to help run the company and have also met with an accountant to make sure I am doing everything right!

With status also brings a few more things to do, to allow WTA to accept online donations etc.  I am currently working on securing a merchant account.  Our goal is to have our website complete, where online donations can be made by the beginning of September.

Thank you

Thank you to Matt and Monica D’hont who will be the first family to donate on a regular basis.  Their contribution will go towards a teacher’s salary in Uganda.  Every month they will receive an email update from the teacher themselves as well as from the headmaster of the school.  Thank you.

Write to Give

If you have not already noticed, you should check out www.writetogive.org.  The site still needs a lot of work, but it is coming together.  This will also be complete before September – as I hope to launch the program into three school boards this fall.  Not only will students be writing stories – but we are also looking at publishing non-fiction material as well.

International Projects

In Kenya we are still supporting our Feeding Program each morning for 278 children.  As our organiztion grows, we hope to also branch out our projects within Kenya.

In Uganda we are now sponsoring two teachers on a full time basis.

As we continue to grow, we will continually update with blog posts and newsletters.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Take care,

Amy McLaren
